Town Budget Hearing
November 10, 2008
6:00 P.M.
Supervisor Bill Jelinek called the budget hearing to order in the absence of Chairman Jack Huston. Present were Supervisors Joan Hilgendorf and Kevin Koth. There were nine property owners present.
The clerk explained changes to the budget.
Byron Lange questioned why there had been additional money added to the parks. The clerk said that it was for new playground equipment as had been talked about at board meetings and for work that needs to be done at the parks.
M/M Elsie Bartz/Robert Eisenman to adjourn. Passed unanimously.
Supervisor Bill Jelinek called the Special Town Hearing to order.
M/M Byron Lange/Elsie Bartz to approve the 2009 total highway expenditures of $535,000.00. Motion passed.
Salaries for the elected officials was discussed. The clerk explained that she averaged 42 hours this past year due to the extra work with the elections program, normally it is a 40 hour average. She stated that with the salary she is at now that comes out to $10.10 per hour. The board gave wage increases to the hourly workers for 2009 and the Waste & Recycling workers will be earning $9.90, twenty cents less than she. She also noted that other than the election workers and office help, the other hourly wages range from $10.15 to $12.90 per hour. The cleaning person will be at $11.60 per hour. She felt that with the regular clerk’s duties and the added election duties her salary should be increased to at least the highest of the hourly wages.
M/M Byron Lange/Elsie Bartz to increase all elected officials for the terms of office to begin April 2009 by 6%. Motion passed.
The clerk said that would average out to $10.60 per hour, which is still below most of the hourly workers.
The proposed storage building at the cemetery was discussed. The clerk said that it would not affect the tax levy, as the money will be taken out of the Cemetery CD. M/M Elsie Bartz/Byron Lange to approve the new storage building. Motion passed.
M/M Harry Gladwin/Elsie Bartz to adopt the 2008 levy to be paid in 2009 in the amount of $648,547.00. Motion passed.
M/M John Swarmer/Bob Eisenman to adjourn. Motion passed.
Supervisor Bill Jelinek called the Town Board Meeting to order.
M/M Koth/Hilgendorf to adopt the 2009 budget in the amount of $1,026,297.00. Motion passed.
M/M Hilgendorf/Jelinek to adjourn. Motion passed.
