Town Board Regular Meeting
September 8, 2008
6:00 P.M.
Chairman Jack Huston called the meeting to order. Present were Supervisors Joan Hilgendorf, Bill Jelinek and Kevin Koth.
Following the Pledge of Allegiance Phyllis Evans gave the treasurer’s report as follows: Building & Office Equipment Fund - $35,647.02 Equipment Fund - $77,874.62, General Savings Account - $130,684.65 Checking Account - $225,661.48 Two Greenwood Cemetery CD’s - $135,416.53 and $10,918.58. M/M Hilgendorf/Koth to accept the report. Passed 4-0
M/M Jelinek/Huston to approve the minutes of the meeting on August 11. Passed 4-0
M/M Hilgendorf/Huston to approve payment of vouchers #1788 through #1846. Passed 4-0.
M/M Hilgendorf/Koth to approve the operator’s license for Laurene Turner. Passed 4-0
The chair and clerk signed the CSM for the Ella Rapel estate.
Plan Commission chair Harry Gladwin reported the commission’s recommendations to the board.
M/M Hilgendorf/Huston to approve the minor land division request by Joe Cronick for parcel # 04.053506.011.002.01.00. Passed 4-0
M/M Koth/Jelinek to approve the conditional use request by Steve Laack for a storage/shop building larger than 1500 square feet on parcel # 04.023506.003.004.00.00. Passed 4-0.
Byron Lange reported that Duffek would grind and lay gravel on Peaceful Valley Road Friday. Permission was given to Robert Eisenman to remove the stones that were left from the riprap. The board will also allow Duffek to borrow gravel if they run short and replace as they have done in the past. The clerk reported that Roger Glocke complimented the town on the good job that has been done on Peaceful Valley Road.
The board gave Byron permission to look into grinding Beach Road in the fall due to its bad condition.
The deed has been recorded for Sand Lane. Byron will contact Dave Lemke for a certified survey of the Sand Lane area for a cost of $975.00.
Road Supervisor Brian Gruhlke reported that someone has placed barricades on Herb Mitchell Road by Hwy S and 51 and marked it as a private road. Jack will contact the sheriff’s dept. to have them removed, as it is a town road. He also reported that some of the cement has been removed from the right-of-way on Rapel Road and he will continue checking it.
Ashley Schoone was not present to request the Children at Play signs for Wadell Road. The board said they would do as they have in the past with this type of request. The signs and posts have to be purchased by the person requesting and the town will put them up.
M/M Koth/Hilgendorf to accept the bid for new lighting in the shop area from Northern Power & Electric for $2,724.00 for eight fixtures including labor. Passed 4-0
M/M Hilgendorf/Huston to pay Robert Eisenman $35.00 per non-prime beaver trapped plus mileage for all trapping and to pay him as an employee. Passed 4-0
The chair will check with the union before the board makes a decision on drug and alcohol testing following accidents involving people or property.
M/M Hilgendorf/Koth to reimburse Phil Schlachtenhaufen $15.00 for the riprap permit for the public boat landing on Deer Lake. Passed 4-0.
M/M Koth/Huston to allow the Lincoln County Health Department to use the hall the second Wednesday of each month for an immunization clinic and to provide them with a key. Passed 4-0
Jelinek said that a letter from Oneida County Solid Waste had been received stating that they will no longer be paying for mixed container loads if the aluminum cans have been removed.
M/M Hilgendorf/Huston that anything that enters the gate at the waste and recycling sites becomes town property. Passed 4-0. Bill will inform all the waste and recycling workers.
Jelinek said that Foley’s Tree Service cut all the dead or dying limbs and pruned the trees at the cemetery. Some need to be cut as they are in poor condition. The bridge has been fixed and stained.
Koth reported that the swing is up at Kahle Park and the porta-potties have been removed except one at Kahle Park that will be removed September 15th.
Hilgendorf said that Gina Gruhlke has been hired for cleaning at the hall.
